Project of the Month!

We recently took on to redo the flooring at Walker Cricket Ground (WCG) and it was a mammoth of a project that we finished in 5 hectic but super productive days. Read along to discover all that went on behind the scenes!

Pinks Food, a new franchise has taken over at the Walker Cricket Ground in Southgate, London and they recently got in touch with us for ideas on how to improve the look of the main bar and function room at WCG. At the time, the floor was covered in a standard contract carpet that had seen better days. For WCG, we suggested a Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) because of  its water proof and impact resistant properties. LVTs are the perfect choice for large areas that will see a lot of wear and tear because of many reasons. They are far more durable than real wood and are available in a vast variety of colours & designs. This product is also a great value for money.

wcg2 FinalWe went through a few colour options from the Project range. We then narrowed the colour options down to 3 from a large choice of flooring samples from our Russdales showroom. The final choice though was a 1220 x 228 mm (9” x 48”) tile with wood plank affect in a rustic oak shade. We also selected a contrasting tile to be put around the bar area.  This was added simply to break the monotonous look and to add some character to the floor whilst making it a unique design. The contrasting tile is also made from the same material and there is no height difference or joining issues and the end result is a smooth seamless, superb floor!

wcg3 finalWe had a tight 5 day window to finish this entire project as a function was already booked for Saturday that week. We started off by removing the old carpet and followed that with pouring a smoothing screed in preparation for new floors. Day 2 mostly went in sanding the floor and filling any imperfections, making it as smooth as possible and we even started laying some planks!

wcg5 finalDay 3 proved to be slightly tricky as the design lay out around the bar area always takes time! You only get one chance to make it look right! Day 4 went tackling the large main areas and the entrance carpet. At this point, we were really pressed for time but things were starting to take shape.  On Day 5 we finished stairs and installed entrance matting at the main door; by this time other builders had arrived to install furniture & lighting so it got a bit stressful. Adding to that, at 3 pm we still had 30 m2 of flooring to lay and then tidy up. Our team worked diligently and finished at 7.30 pm on Friday, all ready for the function the next day.

wcg4 finalThe end result was stunning, even better than we envisioned, it has definitely resulted in making the area feel larger, more open and and at same time warm and welcoming. Needless to say, maintenance & future floor care is easy peasy!  We were really pleased to have finished the project in our tight 5 day window and well within WCG’s budget.
