Spring is well and truly upon us and with that comes spring cleaning! This is also the perfect time to revamp your home, so to help you we have taken a look at the biggest interior design trends of the year.
This year the geometric trend is really taking over. Everything from wallpaper, flooring and soft furnishings will feature abstract designs, shapes and strong lines. This design conveys a very youthful energy so be careful not to go overboard. Keep this trend to accessories such as ceramics and textiles – or one investment piece.
Green comes in so many shades from khaki to bottle green and has regained popularity within the interior design world in 2017. Now we are fully into spring, the focus is more on lime. Don’t be afraid to add a bit of zesty lime within your property to freshen up and revitalize your living spaces. If you are nervous to make big changes like painting the walls then keep it simple and stick to accessories.
If you really don’t want to opt for the bold designs like geometrics and the colour green, don’t worry, neutrals are still a huge trend this year. Whites, beiges, greys remain popular whereas blush pink in particular is incredibly on trend right now.
The natural stone look is making a comeback this year. The most popular way to incorporate this style seems to be with a terracotta floor. Beautifully neutral terracotta goes with anything and you don’t have to worry about expense. There are lots of vinyl flooring designs that achieve a realistic terracotta look and are warm and comfy underfoot, unlike the real thing.
This year it’s all about luxurious bedrooms and in particular, statement headboards. An upholstered headboard brings added comfort and can really change the look of the room. There are so many designs and sizes to choose from to suit all tastes and lifestyles, helping you give your bedroom the wow factor.
Reclaimed Wood Effect
Building upon the vintage trend that is still very popular, reclaimed wood and reclaimed wood effect are really in demand this year. They really help to add character and warmth to a room and there are many different ways to incorporate this design within your home. From flooring to storage, the upcycled look is in this year.
Exotic prints are appearing in wallpaper and textiles, and this design is really making headway in the interior design world this year. In order to achieve this look without making too many in-your-face changes to your interior, why not try printed throw pillows to liven up a plain sofa. This is the perfect design trend for those looking for some exotic escapism.
